Race Day 9-13-14

#56 Spins in MainThere was a lot of damage to repair from the crash last race but we got it all squared away. The car was setup and balanced like it was before and ready to race for a dry slick track. It’s hard to believe that things could get even hotter this summer but they did with temperatures well in to the hundreds. Googleing the weather listed the Barona Hotel and Casino, which is just a few minutes down the road, at one hundred and eight for the high. At twelve thirty in the afternoon its was already one hundred and two. It was going to be miserably hot in side the car all day long. Continue reading

Race Day 8-30-14

Hot Laps 8-30-14Technically summer might be winding down but San Diego is mostly immune to weather season like other parts of the country. On the long Labor Day Holiday weekend the temperatures were still peaking at ninety five plus. The car count in all the classes was a bit lower than normal and so was fan attendance. There was a slight breeze down in the pits but it doesn’t matter when the sun in beating down on your car in staging.

We initially started out with fifteen dwarf cars which was nice, the lower car count should keep the crazy down. It didn’t help with the luck factor though as I pulled a forty seven out of fifty for starting positions in the pill pick. It was by far my worst pick of the year. If there was a time to do it though it would be when the car count was lower. Continue reading

Race Day 8-16-14

Wheel Packing 8-16-14The last race got rained out so it has been a month between races. This weekend there was zero threat of rain, only heat. It would have been nice if we were running at the end of the running order again because the track would have be exceptionally dry but because we didn’t race last time we kept our number one position. Twenty one cars showed up to make this a full race, on a wet track, it was going to be a rough night. These are the kinds of races that you have to survive, its so easy for every to just pin the peddle to the floor and go for it. Lots of things can happen in a hurry.

Race Day 7-19-14

Battling the 42So this is it, I’ve been looking forward to this race for months. The conditions are set for what should be a race I can capitalize on big time. We are last in the running order so the track will be at its driest and its worst shape. A few of the faster cars are also racing out of town but that doesn’t keep us from putting a nearly full field on the track. Today is going to be all about track position and smooth driving and putting power down off the corner. Continue reading

Race Day 7-5-14

Heat Race 7-5-14It was a busy two weeks between races getting the car ready and fixing some of the parts after the last accident. I haven’t had much time to work on posts between work and personal projects either but everything is ready on the car for a double points race on the holiday weekend. The car went back together easily and with nothing out of alignment so I expected everything to work as well as it had the previous race.
