Finally, just a couple days before the next race, the points are out. This year the points are a little different. You earn points in both the Heat race and Main Event which combine to your total points. The reason for this is that after the Heat race there is a random inversion of the field. So to keep people from laying back and sand bagging it in the Heat, you have to race to earn points, because you never know what the inversion will be. So after finishing 4th in my Heat and limping around to a 14th place finish in the Main out of 20 cars, I am 13th in points overall.
This season we are not running for overall points. I mean don’t get me wrong, after last race I think I just proved I want every point possible, but there are already a few race dates that I have scheduled to miss. So that right there will take me out of any points championship competition, but there are a lot of people that miss a race here and there so finishing inside the top 10 might not be too far out of the question.
As far as the car goes, there was nothing too seriously wrong with it. That accident bent the left rear shock and loosened up a hiem joint and both were replace. We pulled out the axles and the rear end gear to make sure they weren’t damaged as well and they were fine. As far as the brakes go, it is possible that it is one of the brake bias control nobs for adjusting the brakes in the car that has gone bad. I have a new one coming in the mail so I can change that out before Saturday. I sure hope that fixes the problem, because while a bend shock changes the handle of the car, it is manageable. No brakes, cant do much about that no matter how you drive. Well its suppose to rain tomorrow so hopefully that doesn’t ruin everything for us come Saturday.
